Manchester City and Liverpool will restart the Premier League action when they lock horns at the Etihad Stadium in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Trailing table-topping Arsenal by eight points, Man City will be eager to close the gap and keep pace with the Gunners in the race for the title.

Meanwhile, Liverpool find themselves sixth – seven points outside the Champions League places and 19 points shy of Man City.

Pep Guardiola’s men return from the international break on a 10-game unbeaten streak in all competitions, having notched eight wins and two draws since their last loss.

Following a 7-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig in the Champions League, Man City crushed Burnley 6-0 in the FA Cup, extending their winning run to six matches.

Not only have City scored 23 goals across the past six outings (3.8 goals per game), but they have also conceded just once, keeping five consecutive clean sheets.

Having won each of their previous eight home matches in all competitions, City will be confident of dispatching Liverpool on Saturday.

As for Liverpool, they have lost each of their last two games, with a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth preceding a loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League.

It is worth noting that Liverpool have drawn just one of their last 10 outings, underlining the team’s inconsistency.

The Reds have especially struggled on their travels of late, losing six of their last nine away matches while failing to score in each of their previous three.

Despite the fact that Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo appear to be gelling with Mohamed Salah in attack, Jurgen Klopp’s new-look team still has a lot of learning to do.

Head-to-head: Man City ended a five-game winless run against Liverpool with a 3-2 victory over the Reds in the EFL Cup back in December.

That said, Liverpool have only managed to win two of their last nine Premier League meetings with Man City, with Klopp’s men conceding over 3.5 goals in each of their last two league defeats to City.

Team news: Erling Haaland is a doubt for Man City after missing international duty, while Phil Foden is absent following surgery.

On the flip side, Liverpool are currently without Joe Gomez, Luis Diaz, Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic due to injury.

Given the 19-point gulf between Man City and Liverpool, Guardiola’s side are expected to get the better of the Reds on this occasion.

Forebet predicts that Manchester City will record a low-scoring victory on Saturday, keeping a clean sheet in the process.
