Man City fans bemoan Rodri absence as finalists for Player of the Season revealed

Man City fans bemoan absence of one player as trio of finalists for Player of the Season award revealed

Premier League holders Manchester City have, on Monday, unveiled the final shortlist for the club’s Player of the Season award.

And, altogether unsurprisingly, it is three attack-minded members of Pep Guardiola’s squad who get the nod.

The trio of Sky Blues stars in with a shot of bagging the accolade? Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva.

City made the news official across the club’s social media platforms a short time ago, accompanied by confirmation that the votes, cast in their ‘thousands’, came by way of the club’s supporters.

‘Rodri robbed’

Swiftly following their side’s announcement, though, has come something of a backlash on the part of large sections of the Man City faithful.

This comes amid the widespread agreement that one key protagonist across the club’s campaign to date – in the form of Rodri – was fully deserving of a place on the podium.

Many also appear to be of the opinion that the Spaniard’s inclusion should have come at the expense of Riyad Mahrez, with just some of the backlash from across Twitter showcased below:
