Manchester City’s Director of Football Hugo Viana has hailed Antoine Semenyo as a player with “huge quality” and immense potential following his high-profile move from AFC Bournemouth.
The 26-year-old forward agreed to a five-and-a-half-year deal keeping him at the Etihad until 2031.
City will pay £62.5m plus £1.5m to Bournemouth, who will also benefit from 10% of any future sale profit, highlighting the scale of the investment in the forward.
Semenyo has already made a name for himself in the Premier League, netting 10 goals and providing three assists this season alone, and chalking up 110 appearances in total for Bournemouth.
“He has huge quality. Two great feet, pace, power, a habit of influencing games and, importantly, real room for growth and development.
“I am excited to see the player Antoine can become in the weeks, months and years ahead,” Viana said, underlining the club’s belief in the Ghanaian international’s future.
Semenyo’s move comes amid interest from other Premier League giants, including Manchester United and Liverpool, but he chose Pep Guardiola’s side to further elevate his game.
The signing adds pace, power, and goal threat to City’s squad as they continue to compete across four competitions this season.
