Malcom closes in on surprise Al-Diriyah switch after Al Hilal spell

Malcom is expected to leave Al Hilal and join Al-Diriyah within the next few hours, in one of the biggest surprises of the current summer transfer window.

The Brazil winger is understood to have reached a final agreement with the newly promoted Roshn Saudi League club, with only the formalities of the move remaining. According to Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, Malcom will undergo a medical before signing a three-season contract with Al-Diriyah.

The proposed transfer comes despite the player recently dismissing reports that he was preparing to leave Al Hilal. After the club’s match against Al-Faisaly, Malcom reacted angrily when a reporter asked him about speculation over his future.

“Are you crazy? I have a contract with the club, and please stop spreading rumours,” he said at the time, appearing to make clear that he intended to remain with Al Hilal.

Those comments had suggested the 27-year-old would continue with the Saudi Arabian club, making the speed of the latest developments particularly unexpected. However, a final agreement has now reportedly been reached between all parties, paving the way for his move to Al-Diriyah.

Malcom made what could prove to be his final goalscoring appearance for Al Hilal in the opening round of the Roshn Saudi League. He scored against Al-Faisaly, ensuring he left a final mark on the team before entering the next stage of his career.

The Brazil international joined Al Hilal after establishing himself as an influential attacking player, and he has produced significant numbers during his time with the club. Across 139 appearances in domestic and continental competitions, Malcom scored 47 goals and provided 41 assists.

His departure would represent a notable loss for Al Hilal, where he became an important part of the attacking line and helped the club win several trophies. The club have not yet officially announced the transfer.

For Al-Diriyah, meanwhile, the arrival of Malcom would be a major statement signing. The club only recently secured promotion to the Roshn Saudi League, and completing a deal for a player with his record would make the move one of the most prominent transfers in the club’s history.

The transfer is now awaiting the completion of Malcom’s medical and the formal announcement, with the move expected to be confirmed in the coming period.
