President John Dramani Mahama has paid tribute to Marcus Mosiah Garvey during the third day of his five-day state visit to Jamaica.
Mr Mahama laid a wreath at the shrine of the legendary Pan-African figure at the National Heroes Circle in Kingston, recognising Garvey’s lasting influence on the global Pan-African movement.
The ceremony highlighted the shared Pan-African heritage of Ghana and Jamaica, as well as the continuing importance of Garvey’s philosophy. His ideas centred on Black pride, self-determination and African unity.
President Mahama took part in the commemorative events held at the site, which also included a cultural presentation. His participation formed part of the day’s programme of activities honouring Garvey and his contribution to Pan-African thought.
