Liverpool have reportedly reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong, as speculation intensifies over his possible summer switch to Anfield.
According to Football Insider, Frimpong is open to joining the Reds, although a full agreement between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen is yet to be finalized.
The 23-year-old has a release clause of £29.6 million, and a summer departure from the Bundesliga champions is widely expected.
Frimpong, who signed a contract extension with Leverkusen last year until 2028, has had a brilliant campaign, netting five goals and registering 12 assists across all competitions.
His attacking prowess and versatility have made him a key target as Liverpool prepare for life without Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is reportedly heading to Real Madrid.
Manchester City, where Frimpong began his youth career, were also linked to him earlier this year as a possible successor to Kyle Walker, but Liverpool appear to be leading the race.
Whether the deal is sealed soon or later in the summer, it seems increasingly likely that Frimpong’s next stop could be Merseyside.
