Black Stars management committee member Alhaji Grusah has called on Ghanaians to pray for Chris Hughton to end Ghana’s AFCON trophy drought.
Hughton was unveiled on Monday as Ghana coach at the SG Mall in Kumasi and will be in charge of the Black Stars until December 2024.
The AFCON trophy has eluded country Ghana for the past four decades after winning it in 1982.
At the unveiling the former Brighton boss expressed he cannot guarantee trophy but promised to do his best to make the team successful.
Speaking to journalists after the unveiling of the new coach Alhaji Grusah said,
“We have to pray for the coach. During his unveiling, one asked if he can win a trophy for Ghana, having gone many years without any title. So, we pray Hughton wins a trophy for Ghana.” he stated
Chris Hughton will commenced his journey as the coach of the Black Stars when the team engage Angola on Thursday at the Baba Yara Stadium in 2023 AFCON qualify.
