Leicester City poised to open contract talks with key first-team player

According to journalist Tom Collomosse, Leicester City are set to open contract talks with defender Jannik Vestergaard.

The Foxes signed him in the summer of 2021 from Sothampton and had struggled in his first season with the club.

But this season, under Enzo Maresca, he has established himself as a key player for the club in the Championship as they aim to return back to the Premier League in their first season back.

With his current contract set to expire in the summer, the club are set to reward him for his performances with a new contract.

And Collomosse claims that the club are poised to open contract talks with the 31-year-old.

Leicester City are having a fantastic season as they sit on top of the Championship with a 12 point gap between them and 2nd placed Leeds United.

The manager hopes to have his top players back in the Premier League with them, and the former Southampton man ranks among his key players. Whether he will sign a new contract is still uncertain.
