Lee Phelps’ Premier League Picks: Gunners’ golden opportunity

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps gives his insight on the best bets for this weekend’s Premier League action…

As the international week looms, let’s go value hunting.

Burnley to leave Chelsea feeling blue

Burnley are a bit big at home to Chelsea at nearly 4/1. The Blues are getting better, but so are Burnley and their first league win of the season on Tuesday will have boosted their confidence. The question is: does Vincent Kompany’s side only have a 20% chance of beating this Chelsea team as the odds suggest? It’s a no from me, but if you want some security take Burnley plus a goal to give you the draw and the home win.

Bees can sting United

Manchester United look too short in the betting. I can’t have them at odds-on. Erik ten Hag admitted publicly they’re in a “very difficult period” which, in ‘manager speak’, means it’s bad.

Thomas Frank can do no wrong, even when his side has only one won Premier League game all season. He says it’s only a matter of time until they start getting wins, which tells me his players are more confident than United’s. They’re a similar price to Burnley and they’re at Old Trafford, so maybe not big enough, but again Brentford plus a goal on the handicap is a good way in. Maybe double them up at just over 3/1.

Gunners’ golden opportunity

The game of the weekend is Arsenal against Manchester City at the Emirates and I’m going to keep this simple. It’s is a golden opportunity for the Gunners and a must-win if they’re going to have any chance of winning the title, for their confidence as much as the three points. Without Rodri in the City team, I think Arsenal have a great chance and, at around 2/1, I’ll take Arteta to finally get one over Pep.
