Lawrence Agyekum makes surprise visit to Ashaiman roots after Unity Cup exploits

Black Stars and Cercle Brugge midfielder Lawrence Agyekum surprised residents of Ashaiman with a heartfelt visit to Nii Amui Park, where he spent his early years.

The unannounced stopover saw the 20-year-old reconnect with childhood friends and locals, offering a touching gesture of gratitude to the community that shaped his football journey.

Agyekum is currently in Ghana on holiday following his involvement with the national team at the Unity Cup in London.

He was on the scoresheet in Ghana’s dominant 4-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago during the tournament.

His journey began at WAFA before earning a move to Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg and later joining Belgian side Cercle Brugge.

His visit has been hailed as an inspiring reminder of humility and staying connected to one’s roots.
