Laryea Kingston hails Chris Hughton’s appointment as head coach of Ghana national team

Former Ghana winger Laryea Kingston has commended the GFA following the appointment of Chris Hughton as the new head coach of the Black Stars.

The 64 year old trainer comes in as replacement for Otto Addo who vacated the position after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“The appointment of Chris Hughton as the new coach of the Black Stars is solid,” Laryea told Joy News in an interview.

“Chris Hughton brings experience and he understands the modern trend of football,” he added.

Hughton was caretaker manager with Tottenham Hotspur on two occasions before taking his first permanent managerial role in 2009-10 at Newcastle United. He has since gone on to have spells at Birmingham City, Norwich City, Brighton and Nottingham Forest.

It will be the first time Hughton has stepped back into management since he left Forest in 2021. He was dismissed after picking up just one point from their opening seven matches of the season.
