Former Ghana Football Association Vice President, George Afriyie, has attributed Ghana’s defeat to Sudan on Tuesday to improper planning.
The Black Stars suffered a 2-0 loss to Sudan in the matchday four encounter of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Libya.
Goals from Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud and Mohamed Abdelrahman secured the victory for Kwesi Appiah’s side in Benghazi.
“Lack of proper planning caused the defeat in the game against Sudan,” he told JoySports.
“Immediately the game ended here in Ghana, we should have travelled to Benghazi and then do our recovery on an Astro-turf field on Friday, the whole of Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
“The two goals that we conceded were as a result of our defenders trying to fall because they are not comfortable on the Astro-turf.”
The defeat leaves Ghana needing to win their final two AFCON qualifiers, while hoping for Sudan to lose their remaining games, in order to qualify for the tournament in Morocco.
Ghana is set to face Niger and Angola in the final two matches in November.
