LA Galaxy General Manager speaks on the signing of Joseph Paintsil from KRC Genk

The General Manager of LA Galaxy, Will Kuntz, has discussed the acquisition of winger Joseph Paintsil.

The Major League Soccer club secured the Ghana international from Belgian side KRC Genk during the January transfer window.

Since joining Galaxy, Paintsil has showcased his talent with two goals in seven appearances.

Kuntz shared insights into the decision to bring in the attacker, emphasizing his status as a top-tier player with MVP potential and a strong track record in a competitive league.

“We were saying, ‘Hey, we’re getting a guy who is a legitimate, MVP-caliber player who’s performed at a very high level in a very good league who’s in his prime,” he told The Athletic.

“Just so many of the right boxes were ticked. That gave us the confidence to go and say, ‘This is our guy,” he added.

The signing reflects Galaxy’s strategic approach to bolstering their squad with top talent. Paintsil aims to maintain his stellar performance as Galaxy prepares to face Vancouver at BC Place on Sunday, kick-off scheduled at 02:30 AM.
