Sudan Assistant Coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu has revealed that he and head coach Kwesi Appiah were overcome with sorrow after leading their side to a 2-0 victory over Ghana in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

The comfortable victory, led by the two Ghanaians, all but ended the Black Stars’ hopes of booking a ticket at the continental event for the first time since 2004.

In an interview with 3Sports, Osei-Fosu shared his feelings after the win.

“I was sad, likewise Kwesi Appiah, after we won in Libya against Ghana. I walked straight to the dressing room and couldn’t utter a word.”

This loss cemented a historic low for the Black Stars, who finished at the bottom of Group F with just three points from six matches, failing to secure a single win.

The Black Stars will now shift their focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which begins in March 2025.
