Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo says Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations was due to individualistic play and a lack of cohesion within the squad.
The Black Stars failed to reach the tournament for the first time in 20 years, finishing bottom of their qualifying group with three draws and three losses.
“I watched the qualifiers, and what I realised was that there was too much individuality,” Sibo told Asempa FM. “Unlike the World Cup qualifiers, you can now see the bond and love among the players.”
The 27-year-old praised the team’s recent turnaround, which saw Ghana begin 2025 with wins over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, followed by a third-place finish in the Unity Cup.
The Black Stars will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in September with games against Chad and Mali.
