Ghanaian striker Kwasi Okyere Wriedt has opened up about the highs and lows of his career, admitting that not every stop in his football journey has been smooth.
The 31-year-old, who now plays for German third-tier side Alemannia Aachen, rose to prominence during a prolific spell with Bayern Munich’s U23 team ; a run that earned him moves to the Eredivisie and later the Bundesliga 2. But while those chapters shaped his growth, a short stint in Turkey left him with lasting regrets.
“The six months in Turkey have hurt me,” Wriedt revealed in an interview with Liga3online. “You know that football there isn’t as structured as here in Germany or other European leagues. I had certain reservations, and I have to critically examine why I took this step anyway. On the ground, the chaos was even greater than I could have ever imagined. Clubs change their presidents just as quickly as their coaches. Amidst these power struggles, it’s virtually impossible to concentrate on the football side of things.”
The Ghanaian forward admitted that injuries, timing, and circumstances have often shaped his path, despite having clear goals throughout his career. Still, his reflections show a player who has learned to embrace both the triumphs and setbacks of life in football.
