Out-of-favour Ghana striker Kwame Peprah looks set to seal a loan move from Orlando Pirates to Maritzburg United for the rest of the 2022/23 season, according to KickOff.
The 22-year-old – who joined the DStv Premiership side from King Faisal – has made just six appearances this term with no goals to his name.
Peprah fell down the pecking order after the arrival of Kermit Erasmus and Bienvenu Eva Nga.
His situation worsened with the return of Ndumiso Mabena and the availability of Evidence Makgopa after an injury-disturbed start to the season.
Zakhele Lepasa has played ahead of him despite battling for goals.
Peprah had offers to leave at the beginning of the season but none of the deals materialized. He has now found himself with a mere 109 minutes to his name this term.
Instead of improving on his first season output of nine goals in 38 appearances, he has become a mere shadow at Pirates.
It is for this reason that he will now be heading out to fellow DStv Premiership side Maritzburg United on loan for the rest of the season in a deal that has been cooking since the beginning of the year.
An agreement was reached on Tuesday paving the way for Peprah to move.
At Maritzburg, he will reunite with Fadlu Davids who coached him at Pirates last season.
With Davids as a co-coach at Pirates in Peprah’s first season in the PSL he was a regular.
Peprah is due to travel from Johannesburg to Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday.
Maritzburg registered five foreign players at the beginning of the season in the quartet of attackers Friday Samu (Zambia), Tawanda Macheke (Zimbabwe), Kimvuidi Karim (DR Congo), Amadou Soukouna (France), and Cameroon goalkeeper Anye Derick Fru and will have to free up space by de-registering one of those players in this window.
