Kwame Opoku joins Morocco’s Olympique Khourigba for 2.5 years from USM Alger

Moroccan side Olympique Club de Khourigba have secured the permanent transfer of Ghanaian striker Kwame Opoku from USM Alger.

The Botola Pro League outfit successfully completed the deal on winter transfer deadline day with the 23-year-old signing a two-and-a-half-year contract. He will thus be at the club until June 2025.

Kwame Opoku joined USM Algers from Asante Kotoko in April 2021 and was enjoying life with the side until injury set in.

By the time he recovered, Opoku’s foreign quota spot had been taken up, forcing the USMA to loan him out to Saudi Arabian side Najran SC last summer. The deal was, however, cut short at the player’s request.

Kwame Opoku pushed for a return to former club Asante Kotoko on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season. However, his rights holders USM Algers preferred an outright transfer and chose to do business with the Moroccans.

Olympique Khourigba are currently second from bottom of the 16-team 2022/23 Moroccan Botola Pro League with no wins after 16 matches. They have just 8 points, all of which came from draws.
