CAF 2nd Vice President and Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, is calling on the state to deepen its investment in women’s football following the Black Queens’ impressive run at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Speaking at the Jubilee House during the team’s courtesy call on the Presidency, Okraku described the Black Queens’ bronze medal finish as a “turning point” for the women’s game in Ghana.
“The Black Queens’ performance is a testament to the strength, talent, and right investments made in women’s football since this administration took office in 2019,” he said.
Beyond the medals, Okraku believes the Queens’ success has inspired a new generation of girls across the country, sending a clear message that dreams of playing football at the highest level are valid and achievable.
“This achievement gives hope to every young girl in Ghana that dreams of playing football are within reach.”
“With the right investment, policy backing, and consistent support, Ghana can return to the top in Africa and be counted among the world’s best,” he added.
The visit to the Jubilee House formed part of the Black Queens’ official homecoming activities after their historic showing at WAFCON 2024.
