Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has saluted predecessor, Kwesi Nyantakyi, for his achievements with the Black Stars during his tenure.
Nyantakyi was the governing body’s president from 2005 to 2018, and was in charge of Ghana’s previous three World Cup tournaments.
The Black Stars made their first appearance at the global showpiece in Germany in 2006 before playing at the 2010 and 2014 tournaments in South Africa and Brazil respectively.
The country’s best appearance came in 2010 when the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals where they were eliminated by Uruguay – a team they will face again in Qatar.
‘’For those of you who have played at the world cup, who have managed teams at the World Cup, you know what it means to be part of that special group called the World Cup. For those of you who have managed national teams to play at the world cup, you know exactly what it means to manage football at that highest level of football governance’’ Kurt Okraku said as quoted by ghanafa.org
‘’In saying this, let me say ayekoo to the former President of our Football Association, President Kwesi Nyantakyi. He qualified Ghana for the World Cup on three occasions, 2006, 2010 and 2014. Let’s give it to him and everybody who worked with him in those years Ghana was represented on the world stage again, Ayekoo’’ President Simeon-Okraku added.
The Black Stars are set to make their fourth appearance at 2022 edition in Qatar which takes place between November 21 and December 18, 2022
