Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, has officially activated the 2026 strategic agenda for Ghana’s national U-15 Girls team following a high-level meeting with the management committee on Monday, February 16, 2026.
The engagement signalled a decisive move toward strengthening the foundation of the U-15 side, with emphasis on nationwide scouting, structured player development and competitive readiness ahead of key regional and international tournaments later this year.
Simeon-Okraku expressed appreciation to committee chairman Charles Osei Antoh and his team for accepting responsibility for one of Ghana’s most critical youth national squads. He urged the committee to work closely with the National Juvenile Committee and immediately intensify talent identification exercises across the country, stressing that early preparation and collaboration would be crucial in assembling a competitive team.
In response, Dr Osei Antoh thanked the GFA President for the confidence reposed in the committee and pledged full commitment to building a well-structured and competitive side. He highlighted the need for streamlined operations and strict adherence to age-eligibility rules to protect the integrity of the development process, while also calling on scouts to closely monitor match centres hosting FIFA-supported regional leagues.
Regional Football Coordinator Daasebre Adu Asare commended the steady growth of girls’ football nationwide and encouraged broader scouting coverage, particularly within the GFA Elite Academy structure to capture emerging talents early.
Technical Director Joseph Kwame Mintah underscored the importance of aligning player identification with global best practices under FIFA’s Talent Identification Programme, insisting that selections must remain transparent, merit-based and age-appropriate, with strong coordination between committee members, coaches and technical staff.
National Teams Director and Deputy General Secretary Alex Asante assured the committee of full administrative and operational support, emphasising high standards in player welfare, coaching supervision and continuous monitoring of team activities.
The Management Committee is tasked with defining the long-term strategic direction and development blueprint of the national U-15 Girls team, laying the groundwork for sustained success in Ghana’s women’s youth football pipeline.
