Mohammed Kudus played a decisive role for Brighton, registering two assists as the Seagulls battled to a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Despite being outplayed for large spells, Brighton stunned the hosts with two quick goals inside the opening half-hour.

Yankuba Minteh broke the deadlock before Yasin Ayari doubled the advantage with a powerful strike. Both goals had Kudus’ imprint, with the Ghanaian midfielder instrumental in their buildup.

Spurs clawed their way back just before the break when Richarlison reacted quickly to a deflected effort from Kudus and tucked home to reduce the deficit.

The home side dominated after the restart, but wasted chances from Richarlison and substitute Xavi Simons kept Brighton ahead.

Tottenham’s persistence eventually paid off eight minutes from time, though, as Kudus’ dangerous cross forced Jan Paul van Hecke into scoring an own goal.

Spurs pushed hard for a late winner to extend their fine start to the season, but Brighton held firm to leave North London with a hard-earned point.
