Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has revealed that the club parted ways with goalkeeper Fredrick Asare due to his “outrageous demands” during contract renewal negotiations.
Despite efforts to extend Asare’s contract, the club couldn’t meet his terms.
“We tried to extend Frederick Asare’s contract, but the player’s terms were too onerous for us. Therefore, our only choice was to part ways with him. It’s not that we were hesitant to renew it, rather, we were unable to meet the player’s outrageous demand,” Sarfo Duku explained on Akoma FM.
Negotiations had been ongoing for a year, but Asare’s demands became too exorbitant.
“We (Kotoko and Asare) have been negotiating for a year, but after too much back and forth, he ultimately demanded figures that were too exorbitant for us.”
Asante Kotoko announced Asare’s departure last week, wishing him well in his future endeavors after a three-year stint with the club.
