Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee head, Nana Apinkrah, has appealed to the government for support ahead of the team’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Kotoko earned a spot in the competition after winning the Ghana FA Cup.
Apinkrah emphasized the challenges of competing in Africa and requested government assistance to aid the team’s success.
“The journey to Africa is very long and a very tough one. We will need your utmost support, not only your personal support, but through you to the government to aid us, as we go forward on the African mission and also to help our league,” Apinkrah said.
Sports Minister Kofi Adams had earlier motivated the team after their President Cup win over Hearts of Oak, and Apinkrah seized the opportunity to make the appeal.
Kotoko are set to travel to South Africa to play Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup as part of their preparations for the Confederation Cup.
Apinkrah highlighted the importance of government support, citing examples of other countries where clubs receive significant backing and sponsorship.
