Asante Kotoko Communications Director Sarfo Duku has clarified that Abdul Karim Zito remains the club’s technical director and acting head coach, despite growing speculation over a permanent appointment.
Zito took charge of the team following the exit of Prosper Ogum towards the end of the season and led Kotoko to a triumphant MTN FA Cup campaign ; a run that sparked rumours of a pending two-year contract as head coach.
Speaking in an interview with Peace FM , Duku confirmed no such deal has been finalised.
“For now, Zito is still the technical director and acting head coach. There’s no permanent contract in place,” he said. “Making him head coach is just one of the options being considered.”
With the 2025 President’s Cup clash against rivals Hearts of Oak set for July 6, Kotoko’s coaching situation remains in the spotlight. Supporters are eager to see whether Zito will be trusted to lead the team permanently after his recent success.
