Asante Kotoko SC has confirmed that key midfielder Andrews Ntim Manu has sustained a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and is set to undergo surgery in the coming days.
The injury occurred during Kotoko’s recent FA Cup triumph over Golden Kick, with Ntim Manu forced off just five minutes into the second half. A subsequent medical assessment and imaging by the club’s medical team and specialist doctors revealed the need for surgical intervention, followed by a long rehabilitation process.
In an official statement, the club announced that the midfielder is expected to be sidelined for approximately nine months, ruling him out of the entire first half of the upcoming Ghana Premier League season and potentially the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
“This is undoubtedly a significant setback for both the player and the club,” the statement read. “Andrews was the lynchpin of our midfield last season, demonstrating exceptional commitment and quality on the pitch.”
Ntim Manu, widely regarded as one of Kotoko’s standout performers last season, played a pivotal role in the club’s midfield with his tactical intelligence, passing range, and work rate.
This injury blow comes at a critical moment as Asante Kotoko ramps up preparations for the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers and seeks to mount a strong title challenge in the 2025/26 season.
