Asante Kotoko have confirmed the signing of highly-rated midfielder Hubert Gyau on a four-year contract, in a move that signals their intent to bolster the squad with top local talent.
The 20-year-old arrives from Berekum Chelsea, where he rose through the ranks to become one of the standout performers in the Ghana Premier League.
After making his debut as an 18-year-old in the 2023/24 season, Gyau quickly grew into a consistent presence in the middle of the park, racking up 27 appearances in the most recent campaign.
Known for his composure on the ball, relentless work rate, and tactical intelligence, Gyau is capable of operating across all midfield roles; a versatility that will no doubt excite the Porcupine Warriors faithful.
Speaking to Kotoko media following the announcement, Gyau expressed both pride and ambition.
“I’m proud to be joining Asante Kotoko,” he said. “This is the perfect environment for me to grow as a player. I want to help the team win trophies right away and, in the long term, use this platform to push for a move to a top European club.”
Kotoko are clearly banking on youth and potential as they rebuild for the upcoming season, and in Gyau, they may have landed one of the league’s most promising midfield prospects.
