Asante Kotoko great George Kennedy believes interim boss Abdul Karim Zito deserves the full-time coaching role but only if he guides the club to a historic double.
Zito, who stepped in after the departure of Prosper Narteh Ogum, has quickly steadied the ship, going unbeaten so far and leading the Porcupine Warriors to the final of the MTN FA Cup.
Kotoko are also firmly in the title race with just a few games to go in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
“It is too early to determine who should be hired as the next coach,” he told Akoma FM.
“If Zito is performing very well and winning all available matches, what criteria will you use to hire someone else as the substantive coach?
“That cannot happen, so let us hope that (Zito) continues to perform and wins the league and the FA Cup for Kotoko, then we are through.
“There will be no need for hiring another coach for Kotoko because Zito gave his all. What we want is results, and the outcomes are that Zito has earned us the double, so what again?”
Kotoko host Dreams FC on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Matchday 31, as they continue their push for silverware on both fronts.
