Kotoko insists South Africa tournament is safe

Asante Kotoko have allayed fears their confirmed invitational tournament in South Africa is in danger of not coming off.

The newly crowned Ghana Premier League champions received an invitation to play in the tournament to honour of South Africa’s first president Nelson Mandela and has English giants Manchester United as participants.

The South Africa PSL duo of Sundowns and Amazulu are the other competitors of the tournament slated to come off in July.

However recent publications confirming Manchester United’s participation had Asante Kotoko conspiciouly missing – raising fears they have been dumped out of the tournament.

But the club’s Public and Supporter Relations Manager Listowell Yesu Bukarson insists plans for the tournament ar afoot and that the club have officially written to the organizers to seek final confirmation of their participation.

“We are working with an agency in South Africa with whom we have signed contracts to participate in the four-club tournament,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“Also, our consultant on FA and International Relations (Kwame Baah-Nuakoh) has written to the agency to seek clearance and we are awaiting their response anytime soon.”

The tournament in South Africa according to Kotoko officials will form an integral part of the team’s pre-season activities before the commencement of their title defence netx season.
