Goalkeeper Cynthia Findib Konlan was the star of the night as Ghana’s Black Queens beat Algeria 4-2 on penalties to reach the semifinals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
After a goalless 120 minutes in Berkane, Konlan made two crucial saves in the shootout to send Ghana through.
The Queens had a goal disallowed in the 27th minute after VAR ruled out Stella Nyamekye’s strike, and substitute Evelyn Badu missed a sitter late on.
Algeria nearly stole it in extra time, but Susan Ama Duah’s last-ditch tackle kept Ghana in it.
Konlan’s heroics now set up a mouthwatering semifinal clash against hosts Morocco on Tuesday, July 22, in Rabat.
