Kojo Addae Mensah, CEO of Databank and a respected sports analyst, has floated the idea of bringing Saudi Arabia coach Hervé Renard into the Black Stars’ technical setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Renard, who famously guided Saudi Arabia to consecutive World Cup appearances and previously won the AFCON with Zambia and Ivory Coast, is among the few coaches heading to next year’s tournament with deep experience in both African and global football.
Speaking on Luv FM’s Sports Blitz Xtra, Addae Mensah praised Renard’s pedigree and suggested his expertise could complement head coach Otto Addo’s approach.
“If it were up to me, I’d love to see Hervé Renard working alongside Otto Addo. He’s been to the World Cup, he’s won the AFCON, that experience could really help us,” he said.
However, Addae Mensah admitted that defining Renard’s role within the existing structure could be tricky.
“It’s difficult to decide what title he’d hold. We already have a technical advisor, so you can’t just call him that. Maybe it’s best to maintain what we have,” he added.
He further noted that with Ghana’s recent qualification and unbeaten run under Addo, there’s little justification to overhaul the technical team.
