Kingston keeps focus on World Cup

The Ghanaian was on the books of the Scottish club for three years as one of it’s big earners but has been shown the exit after the club decided it was time to trim their wage bill.

Kingston has always insisted he wanted to stay on but now must look for a new home after a career that has taken him to Libya and Russia already.

“I wanted to stay but I had three wonderful years at Hearts and I am happy I am leaving on a good note,” Kingston told KickOffGhana.com.

“In the first half of the season I suffered with injuries and then when I was fit, I had issues with the previous coach Laszlo Csaba. In the second half under the new manager I played a lot more games and the fans who were under the wrong impression applauded me off in out last game. They saw the effort I put in and I am glad I made my peace with them.”

Kingston must now put in similar effort in a bid to get into Milovan Rajevac’s 2010 World Cup squad after he missed the 2006 World Cup through suspension.

“I want to be in that 23-man squad especially given the way I missed the last World Cup. I will give everything in the pre-tournament camp in Paris to be in the main squad.”
