Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren is shifting focus to the Black Stars’ World Cup campaign after the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) was postponed and the Pink Ladies Cup concluded.
The team won the Pink Ladies Cup title with impressive wins over Hong Kong and Russia, with Doris Boaduwaa claiming the Golden Boot award and Cynthia Konlan Findib winning the Golden Glove award.
Björkegren praised his team’s performance, saying, “I’m super happy we won today and the way we won 4-0. It was a deserved 4-0. It’s the best game I’ve ever seen this team play”.
The Black Queens’ next assignment was supposed to be WAFCON, but with the postponement to July Björkegren can now focus on performing his role as one of Otto Addo’s assistant coaches for the Black Stars in their 2026 World Cup.
He was appointed as one of five technical additions in February ahead of the mundial.
