Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has expressed strong belief in the potential of Ghanaian female footballers, insisting many are capable of breaking into top clubs around the world.
The Swedish tactician, who recently guided Ghana to a second straight Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualification following a commanding 7–0 aggregate win over Egypt, commended the remarkable progress within his squad.
“The quality in the team is really, really good. I think there is another level in the team,” Bjorkegren told Joy Sports.
“If you look at the players, there are many who are ready to take the next step. Many of them, even those already playing abroad, can play strongly in better teams.”
He also pointed to the rising success stories of youngsters Comfort Yeboah and Nancy Amoh—both of whom recently signed for Spanish side DUX Logroño—as proof that Ghanaian players can excel beyond Africa.
“I’m happy when I see young players like Comfort and Nancy going to Spain. That’s a perfect step for them,” he said. “What they’re doing day by day with their club teams will help us in the national team.”
Bjorkegren will now turn his attention to preparing the Black Queens for next year’s WAFCON in Morocco, which doubles as the qualifying competition for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
