Key double West Brom injury update emerges

Published: 3 years ago
Champion League

West Brom pair Alex Palmer and Kyle Bartley are expected to return from injury at some point during late March, according to journalist Lewis Cox.

The Lowdown: Palmer and Bartley absent

Carlos Corberan’s side are still pushing hard to finish in the playoff places in the Championship this season, with some huge matches coming up.

Two players who West Brom are having to make do without currently are Palmer and Bartley, however, with the former not appearing since last month and the latter out since November.

Now, a key update has emerged regarding the duo, as they battle back from their respective injuries.

The Latest: Duo back next month

Taking to Twitter, Cox claimed that both Palmer and Bartley would likely to back in action towards the end of next month:

“Tom Rogic (hamstring) still out tomorrow. Hasn’t returned to Albion training yet. Plans are Palmer and Bartley still to come back around late March international break.”

The Verdict: Key to promotion chances

Having Palmer and Bartley back in the fold will be a huge boost for Corberan, enhancing his squad depth in the vital remaining weeks of the season.

Palmer has started 17 league games this season, with the manager saying he has ‘grown very well’ at West Brom, and he is an upgrade on current goalkeeper Josh Griffiths, who remains inexperienced at 21.

Meanwhile, Bartley is someone whose longevity and nous can be vital in the promotion battle, having racked up 209 Championship appearances in total.

While Dara O’Shea and Erik Pieters have done relatively well at centre-back of late – they did concede three goals at Watford, though – the 31-year-old could still come straight back into the team upon his return.
