AC Milan star Kevin-Prince Boateng has sent a goodwill message to former president Nelson Mandela who has been admitted to a hotel in Pretoria.
The 94-year-old anti-apartheid leader was sent to hospital on Thursday for a recurring lung problem.
The ex-Ghana international met the influential political leader during the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals when the Black Stars visited Mandela at his residence after excelling in the tournament.
Boateng posted a picture of him shaking Mandela’s hands and wrote on his official Twitter account: “Get well soon Nelson Mandela.”
The message to Mandela has been seen by many as a sign of Boateng’s connection to Africa and possibly his desire to return to playing for Ghana after retiring from international football.
