Kevin-Prince Boateng recounts controversial 2014 World Cup expulsion over criticism of GFA officials

Kevin-Prince Boateng, has finally revealed his version of his events that led to his expulsion from the Black Stars camp during the 2014 World Cup.

The former AC Milan star disclosed that he was dismissed from the tournament in Brazil after openly criticizing team officials for subpar treatment.

Boateng, and Sulley Muntari expelled from the team’s camp due to heated confrontations with the management committee on the eve of Ghana’s crucial group-stage match against Portugal.

He recounted that he had voiced his dissatisfaction with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials, urging them to invest more in the association and ensure fair compensation for the players. This critique did not sit well with the Ghana FA management.

Boateng shared, “I got kicked out from the national team and Schalke in the same season.” Explaining further, he said, “We had a meeting, and I criticized them, saying ‘they can’t treat us like that’ because we know how much they make, and they should invest in the organization and give the players the money they deserved.”

His outspoken stance led to his expulsion from the national team. Boateng recalled receiving a letter under his door at 6 in the morning on the day of Ghana’s match against Portugal, instructing him to leave the team hotel within 15 minutes and surrender his cards.

Boateng asserted that he and Muntari were the only players who dared to speak up during that tumultuous time. He emphasized that his actions were intended to advocate for the team’s welfare rather than personal interests.

Unfortunately, Ghana went on to lose the match against Portugal 2-1 and exited the World Cup in the group stage with just one point to their name
