Ghanaian football star Kevin-Prince Boateng has openly expressed his admiration for Brighton’s manager Roberto De Zerbi, boldly stating that De Zerbi surpasses the renowned Pep Guardiola in coaching prowess.
Boateng, with experience in top-level football with AC Milan and Barcelona, lamented the brief period he spent under De Zerbi at Sassuolo during the 2018-19 season.
Reflecting on his time with De Zerbi, Boateng remarked, “If I had De Zerbi 10-12 years ago, football would’ve been different. I think he will be the best coach of the next 20-30 years.” The Ghanaian highlighted De Zerbi’s transformative impact on players, expressing regret for not having the opportunity to work with him earlier in his career.
Boateng particularly commended De Zerbi’s ability to enhance the performance of every player, emphasizing the manager’s dedication to fostering personal relationships with his squad.
Despite widespread recognition of Pep Guardiola as one of the best coaches globally, Boateng confidently asserted, “Is De Zerbi better than Guardiola? I say yes.”
