Kennedy Agyapong dedicates victory over Anas to Kwesi Nyantakyi

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has dedicated his victory over investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in court to former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Mr. Agyapong emerged victorious in a defamation suit filed by Anas and the Tiger Eye P. I.

In 2018, following the premiere of the ‘Number 12’ investigative piece by Anas which implicated Kwesi Nyantakyi, Agyapong also aired a documentary dubbed ‘who watches the watchman’ which triggered a defamation suit by the journalist.

But the court ruled in favor of the politician, labelling Anas as a person practising “investigative terorisom”

In the ruling, Judge Justice Eric Baah said : “I find the claims by the plaintiff [Anas Aremeyaw Anas) meritless and they are hereby dismissed.”

Mr. Agyapong said after the court declared him winner: “We have to be bold to speak the truth, Anas goes ahead to [allegedly] defame people and gets away. It is only in this country that a journalist covers his face to go and give witness while Supreme Court judges are sitting there,” he said.

“Anas has to come out and apologise. All I am saying is the victory is for Kwasi Nyantakyi.”
