Former Hearts of Oak team manager, Nii Sabahn Quaye says defender Kelvin Osei Asibey is not yet up to the Black Stars standard despite performing well in the Ghana Premier League.
Kelvin had an outstanding showing in their game against Asante Kotoko last weekend which impressed the local media and call for his inclusion in the men’s senior national team has now become louder.
Ghana coach Chris Hughton is expected to name his 27 man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
“Kelvin Osei Asibey is not up to Black stars standard yet, there’s so much pressure now at Hearts of Oak this time, and he needs to get enough time a grow well at the club,” Quaye told Kessben midfield Action.
“The Hearts of Oak Jersey is too heavy and he needs to play like two to three seasons. So let’s not rush him for now, we did same to Fatawu Mohammed and he was not able to play,”
The Phobians will lock horns with Nations FC at Dr. Kwame Kyei sports complex in Abrankese on Saturday afternoon.
