Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has reaffirmed his commitment to the club, insisting he has no intention of walking away despite increasing calls from some supporters for his dismissal following a string of inconsistent performances.
The veteran tactician has come under intensified scrutiny in recent weeks, particularly after the Porcupine Warriors’ elimination from the FA Cup at home to Aduana FC in the Round of 16 — a setback that further amplified criticism around his tenure.
Speaking in an interview with Akoma FM, Zito acknowledged the frustrations surrounding the team’s results but maintained a strong belief in the squad’s long-term potential. He expressed a personal desire to remain in charge long enough to witness the success he believes lies ahead.
According to him, while the current run of form has left both the technical team and supporters unhappy, he is convinced that improvement is inevitable. Zito added that he hopes to be the one on the touchline when that turnaround finally arrives.
The Kotoko coach also questioned the fairness of some of the criticism directed at him, citing challenges such as player injuries and a demanding fixture schedule as contributing factors to the team’s struggles. He appealed for patience from fans as the squad works toward greater stability and consistency.
Despite the pressure, Zito struck an optimistic tone about the club’s future, stating that once the team finds its rhythm, it will become a difficult opponent for any side in the league whether or not he remains at the helm.
With 13 matches left in the Ghana Premier League season, Kotoko currently occupy fifth place on the table, sitting eight points behind league leaders Medeama SC.
