Karim Zito stresses importance of Kwame Opoku’s return

Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has expressed his delight at the impending return of striker Kwame Opoku, who is set to make his comeback from injury ahead of Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Karela United at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Kotoko will be hoping Opoku’s comeback provides the attacking boost they need as they look to bounce back in front of their home fans, especially after the departure of Albert Amoah.

Opoku has been sidelined since sustaining an injury in Kotoko’s season opener against Berekum Chelsea.

However, after weeks of recovery, Opoku has resumed full training and is in contention for selection on November 2.

Speaking to the club’s media, Zito underscored the significance of Opoku’s return, especially given the team’s recent struggles in attack.

“When you look at our injury situation, it has affected the attackers the most,” Zito said. “That’s why I’m very happy Kwame [Opoku] is back to join those who are available. His return gives us more options and experience up front.”

Kotoko will look to maintain their unbeaten start against Karela to provide them with the much-needed momentum ahead of the Super Clash.
