Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has paid tribute to Southampton’s loyal supporters and vowed to give them “something to cheer” in the final match of the season, despite the club’s confirmed relegation from the Premier League.
The Saints are set to finish bottom of the table following a disappointing 2024/25 campaign. Their final fixture is a home clash against Arsenal—a match that will mark the end of a tough year and the start of their bid for an immediate Championship return.
Sulemana, speaking after the club’s recent loss to Everton, admitted the team had let fans down and acknowledged the emotional and physical toll of the season.
“I think they deserve better and we should try to do better for them, especially in the last game,” Sulemana said. “Try to give them something to cheer for and end the season on a good note, even as we go back to the Championship.”
Despite their struggles, the club’s supporters continued to show up in large numbers throughout the season, a loyalty Sulemana deeply appreciates.
“They have always been there. As I always say, we are lucky to have them—regardless of the results. It’s been a long season, both emotionally and physically. But they showed up for us every single time,” he added.
“I know the results haven’t been the best, but they always showed their teeth. We’re going down, but they never turned their backs on us.”
Sulemana, who joined Southampton in early 2023, remains committed to helping the club rebuild and bounce back stronger in the upcoming campaign
