Juan Bezerra has accused Zamalek of breaking a commitment to sell him after a substantial transfer offer arrived during the current summer window.
The Brazilian forward, whose contract with the Egyptian club runs until the summer of 2029, published a statement on Instagram addressing Zamalek supporters directly.
“I am speaking directly to the Zamalek fans, from the heart, so that you know exactly what is happening,” Bezerra wrote.
The 2025 arrival said he had developed a close bond with the club’s supporters since joining in the second half of last year, comparing that relationship with the one he previously enjoyed at Vasco, the club where he developed as a player.
“I arrived at Zamalek in the second half of 2025 and, since then, a special connection has grown between us. It is a feeling I had not experienced with any supporters since I left Vasco, the club that made me as a player,” he said.
Bezerra acknowledged that his time at Zamalek had not been straightforward, but said he had chosen not to reveal details because he did not want to embarrass the club or its employees.
“The journey has not been easy. Many things have happened that I will not reveal, at least for now, because I do not want to embarrass the club or the people who work there,” he added.
He said the support of Zamalek’s fans had persuaded him to remain at the club and reject important offers towards the end of last year.
“But because of you, I stayed strong. I even rejected important offers at the end of last year. I did not even want to hear those offers. I knew I could not leave the club at that moment and abandon you,” Bezerra said.
The player explained that he wanted to complete his task of helping Zamalek win the league title, a goal he said they achieved together.
“I needed to complete my mission, which was to help the club win the league title, and we succeeded in doing that together. I do not regret for even one second my decision to stay with you,” he said.
According to Bezerra, Zamalek officials promised him and his father on more than one occasion that the club would sell him. He said a transfer fee had also been set, though he declined to disclose the figure.
“After that, the club promised me and my father more than once that it would sell me, and it had already set the value of the deal. I do not think it is appropriate to reveal that amount, but it would have become the biggest sale in the club’s history,” he wrote.
Bezerra then claimed the anticipated offer arrived, but Zamalek did not honour the agreement.
“That offer arrived, but the club is not keeping the promise it made to me. Once again, it is not respecting what was agreed with me, as happened in other situations I have referred to before. I will not speak about those details now,” he said.
The forward insisted he would not accept the club failing to keep its word. He said the issue involved both his professional ambitions and Zamalek’s financial position.
“This time, I will not accept them failing to keep their word. This is not only about my professional goals. Zamalek also needs the money from this deal to organise its financial situation and to ensure that the professional players who remain at the club do not go through the same difficulties that I experienced,” Bezerra said.
He concluded by saying he wanted supporters to hear his version directly, after claiming he had been portrayed as the person at fault.
“You had to hear this explanation from me directly, because they are portraying me as the one who is wrong in this story. All I can say is that my conscience is clear, because I did everything correctly from the beginning to the end,” he added.
