Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil will not feature in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
The Los Angeles-based forward was named in Otto Addo’s squad for the double-header but missed his connecting flight from New York to Accra following a delayed departure from Los Angeles.
Paintsil finally arrived in Accra on Wednesday morning, but the Black Stars had already departed for N’Djamena.
Defender Alexander Djiku is also unavailable for being in Moscow to sign a contract.
He will, however, be available for Ghana’s next qualifier against Mali.
Otto Addo will therefore rely on a 22-man squad for the Chad fixture as the Black Stars, who currently top Group I with 15 points from six matches, aim to edge closer to qualification for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
