Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil scored his first goal of 2026 for LA Galaxy, netting an equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Sporting San Miguelito in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Paintsil’s 68th-minute strike, assisted by João Klauss, secured a valuable away point for LA Galaxy, setting them up for the second leg at home on February 25.

The match saw LA Galaxy trail at halftime, courtesy of Rodrigo Tello’s 37th-minute header.

However, they responded strongly in the second half, with Paintsil’s goal shifting momentum in their favor.

Paintsil, who played 76 minutes, showcased his pace and creativity, helping LA Galaxy maintain their hopes in the continental competition.

This goal is a positive sign for Paintsil, who’s aiming to secure a Black Stars spot for the 2026 World Cup.

LA Galaxy will next host New York City FC in their MLS regular season opener on February 22.
