St Patrick’s Athletic goalkeeper Joseph Anang is poised to make his first senior appearance for the Black Stars during the Kirin Cup tournament in Japan.
The former West Ham United shot-stopper has been part of the national team setup since May 2025 but is yet to feature in a competitive match.
With Heart of Oak’s Benjamin Asare arriving late in camp, Anang is expected to start between the sticks against Japan on Friday in Nagoya.
Upon arriving in Japan, the 25-year-old expressed his excitement on social media: “Grateful for another call up Black Stars of Ghana.”
Anang has enjoyed an impressive season in the Irish League, keeping 18 clean sheets in 36 games, although he conceded nine goals in six Europa Conference League matches, three of which ended in clean sheets.
On Wednesday, 21 players reported for camp in Nagoya, including goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi, as head coach Otto Addo continues preparations for the upcoming friendlies.
After facing Japan, the Black Stars will travel to Seoul to take on South Korea four days later.
