Ayew, the youngest son of Ghana legend Abedi Ayew Pele replaced his brother Andre Dede Ayew with ten minutes of the Ghana-Swaziland Nations Cup qualifier at the Somholo Stadium on Sunday. His appearance took the number of Ayew family members to have represented the Black Stars to five after his father Abedi, Abedi’s junior brother Kwame and Abedi’s sons Rahim, Dede and now Jordan. “It was a good thing for me and the family. I didn’t think it will be now but it has come and I am delighted,” he told KickOffGhana.com about the debut. “It’s a very special day. For my family too, it is something very important. I am happy for my parents because they deserve this present.” The Olympique Marseille midfielder is also keen to ensure his national team career is not brief but his family name is that last thing that he will allow to crank up the pressure on himself. “I will do my possible best to remain at the highest level but I don’t want to put pressure on myself. It is my objective to be in the Black Stars game every time. I have overcome the shock of my first call up so now I am keen to hold onto it.”
