Black Stars skipper Jordan Ayew has reached out to Francis Abu after the midfielder sustained a serious injury during Ghana’s Kirin Challenge Cup clash with Japan.
Ayew, who did not feature in the match because of a knee problem, contacted the Toulouse FC player to offer words of comfort and encouragement.
“On behalf of all the players, we wish you a speedy recovery and pray that God will heal you to return to the field to do what you love to do most”.
Abu was rushed to the Toyota Memorial Hospital in Aichi shortly after the incident, where initial assessments confirmed the severity of the injury.
The challenge from Japan’s Tanaka Ao early in the second half left the midfielder in significant discomfort, forcing an immediate substitution.
Medical experts from the Black Stars, Toulouse FC and the Japanese facility are collaborating to determine the next steps for his treatment.
Abu had only just rejoined the national team setup after missing recent call-ups, making the setback even more painful for the young midfielder.
He is expected to begin further medical evaluation as he remains under specialist supervision.
