Jordan Ayew scores first of the season in Crystal Palace win at Bournemouth

Ghana international Jordan Ayew scored his first goal of the 2022/23 season after 16 appearances as Crystal Palace beat Bournemouth 2-0 away in the Premier League on New Year’s Eve.

With conditions at the Vitality Stadium being difficult, it was a thoroughly deserved three points for the Eagles who had suffered three consecutive losses prior to the game.

Ayew headed Palace in front on 19 minutes when he guided in a Michael Olise corner.

The visitors firmly took control in the 36th minute when another brilliantly worked Olise set-piece was finely converted by Eberechi Eze from the edge of the box.
Bournemouth improved at the start of the second half but rarely threatened as Palace comfortably cruised to their first victory since November 6.

Jordan Ayew was substituted in the 74th minute for Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Another Ghanaian – Jeffrey Schlupp, who started on the left side of midfield for Crystal Palace, played the entire duration of the game.

The result leaves Bournemouth 15th in the table and just three points above the relegation zone after their sixth defeat in seven Premier League games. Palace are now 11th in the Premier League table on 22 points.
